Strong Financial Base

As a subsidiary of Portakabin, Yorkon is part of the Shepherd Group - one of Europe's largest privately owned building companies.

Established in 1890 by Frederick Shepherd, the Group now employs around 4,000 people worldwide and has a turnover of £600m. It is still controlled by the Shepherd family, giving it complete independence and a strong financial base.

Nearly 1,000 expert staff are employed at the 250,000sqm manufacturing centre in York. These include designers, architects, health and education specialists, and project management teams. The Group is committed to investing heavily in the latest production technology, which ensures Yorkon will remain at the forefront of design and innovation of modular buildings.
