27/07/2009 – New Commercial Team Manager for Yorkon
Off-site construction specialist and Portakabin
subsidiary, Yorkon, has promoted Lee Matthews to the position of Commercial
Team Manager.
Lee has worked on
a number of modular building schemes since he joined Yorkon in 2007 as a
Project Controller, including the acclaimed Emergency Admissions Unit at North
Tees Hospital which recently won its third award.
With a career in
the construction industry which spans 22 years, he will now manage one of four
teams responsible for off-site contracts in both the public and private
sectors.
This will involve
seeing off-site projects through the estimating, planning, design and
manufacturing stages, to site installation, fitting out and successful
completion, ensuring delivery on time and on budget.
Lee's previous
experience includes site management, subcontracting and work for the NHBC in
claims assessment and latterly, health and safety.
Commenting on the
new appointment, David Johnson, Director and General Manager of Yorkon, said,
"We are seeing consistent demand for off-site construction in sectors such as
health, education, retail, airports and pharmaceuticals. Our award-winning off-site approach delivers
higher quality buildings to the most challenging timescales, with greatly
reduced disruption on site and much less risk for the client."
"This latest
appointment will further strengthen our management team. We are committed to delivering every project
on time and to budget - and the fact that we have achieved performance of 99
per cent in both of these areas over the last 12 months, is further evidence of
the success of our approach."
Yorkon, a
Portakabin subsidiary, is part of the Industrial Division of the Shepherd Group
- one of Europe's largest privately owned businesses in the construction
sector.
Established in
1980, Yorkon is now the UK's
leading off-site specialist and continues to pioneer innovative building
solutions in the industry, such as the recently launched a high performance
floor option - the highest performing floor for any modular building.
