Yorkon Makes New Senior Staff Appointment in the Retail Sector
Award-winning off-site specialist and Portakabin
subsidiary, Yorkon, has appointed Damian McColgan as Business Development
Manager for the retail sector.
Damian was
previously Regional Business Development Manager, covering the South East. His career in the off-site sector spans 10
years, and includes five years working for Portakabin
Hire Division.
In his new role,
he will be managing and developing Yorkon's business relationships with the
UK's leading food retailers and their construction partners, as well as looking
for new opportunities in the retail and fast-food sectors.
Commenting on this
new appointment, David Johnson, Director and General Manager of Yorkon, said, "Over
the past three years, we have seen a huge increase in the demand for off-site
construction in the retail sector, particularly from food retailers. The off-site approach can help deliver high
quality standalone supermarkets, convenience stores and superstore extensions
to the most challenging timescales, and with greatly reduced disruption to
trading - a key issue in the upgrading and expansion of existing stores."
He added, "This
latest appointment will further strengthen our management team. With more than 70 per cent of our business
from repeat customers - further evidence of the success of our approach - we
are committed to delivering every project on budget and on time, reducing risk
for our clients."
Yorkon has worked
with Tesco for the past 10 years, delivering Tesco Express convenience stores
and standalone supermarkets. It has
recently developed a new 10,000sqft modular store design for Tesco, and can
also supply interim stores built to permanent standards for use while existing
stores are refurbished.
Yorkon's other customers
in the retail sector include Sainsbury's, ASDA, The Co-op, and Londis, and contractors
such as Longcross, Taylor Woodrow and RG Group.
Established in
1980, Yorkon is now the UK's
leading off-site specialist. It
continues to pioneer innovative building solutions in the industry, such as the
recently launched, award-winning a high performance floor. This pre-installed concrete floor option is
the highest performing floor for any modular building, and has already been
used by Sainsbury's for several store extension projects.
