Yorkon and Tesco Set New Record for Speed of Supermarket Construction

Yorkon delivered and installed a 13,300sqft Tesco supermarket in an unprecedented 18 hours, following the Cumbria floods.

The entire building was manufactured less than a week after the instruction was received from Tesco. Working through the night and over a weekend, Yorkon then delivered and installed 26 modules in an accelerated programme of one unit every 30 minutes, achieving a watertight envelope as fast as possible, ready for the shop fitting teams to move in.

The interim Tesco store is helping to ease some of the problems facing the flood-hit community of Workington. It was open and trading just 13 days after start on site.
